Summer Associate Program
The Summer Associate Program at the Firm serves as the
primary source for hiring entry-level attorneys. We try to
provide a realistic view of our work environment while offering
summer associates the opportunity to learn about the Firm and
its attorneys, experience the practice of law, and focus on
areas of interest.
The Firm assigns each summer associate at least one
supervising attorney who will help orient the summer
associate, regulate assignments, provide insight into the Firm
and its practice and generally respond to any questions or
issues that the summer associate may wish to address.
The Summer Associate Program is not a tightly structured
undertaking. We try to involve summer associates in various
practice areas on an informal basis. Although research and
writing are important to working in the summer program, the
Firm attempts to involve summer associates in as many day-to-
day aspects of the practice as possible. Summer associates
typically have the opportunity to attend or assist in hearings,
depositions, conference calls with clients, settlement
negotiations, and trials.
The Firm also has a very active social program for summer
associates. We plan weekly activities throughout the summer
to help the summer associates become better acquainted with
the attorneys and their families. Summer associates are also
frequently invited to enjoy lunches, dinners, cocktails and other
informal activities with our attorneys.
Employment inquiries for positions in the summer associate
program should be directed to the Firm's Recruiting
Coordinators, Lauren McFatter or Natalie Levanway, in the Jackson, Mississippi office. The
firm currently employs summer associates in the Jackson office
only.
Lateral Opportunities
We encourage qualified lateral candidates to apply for attorney
positions. Lateral hires have played a large part in the growth
of the firm over the past several years. Hiring decisions are
based on applicant's academic background, legal experience
and the Firm's current needs. Once hired, we integrate lateral
associates into the Firm by fostering relationships among the
attorneys and encouraging professional development.
